王昶雄〈奔流〉論──與周金波〈志願兵〉的比較

A Study of WANG Chang-xiong's Work HONRYU-a Comparison with ZHOU Jin-po's Work SIGANHEI

本論將以王昶雄的短篇小說〈奔流〉（1943）作為研究對象，與周金波的〈志願兵〉（1941）進行比較研究，探究其主題、獨特性以及在臺灣文學系譜中的定位。這兩篇小說在臺灣文學研究的脈絡中，多半被論述到是否為皇民文學的問題，然而本論的問題意識並不在此議題上。筆者將藉由分析文本的結構，探討作者的意圖以及作品的定位等課題。經分析文本後可得知，〈奔流〉與早其兩年發表的〈志願兵〉在題材、人物設定、故事情節上多有雷同之處。因此，筆者認為可將〈奔流〉視為是〈志願兵〉的Pastiche。然而，〈志願兵〉與〈奔流〉在創作上存在著兩年的時間差距，其中的差異不小。同時，〈奔流〉的主題是，身為日本帝國臣民的台灣人該如何思考台灣或台灣人的定位，這與〈志願兵〉的主要議題恰好呈現出完全相反的問題意識。

This paper researches WANG Chang-xiong (王昶雄)'s short novel HONRYU (奔流), comparing it with ZHOU Jin-po (周金波)'s work SHIGANEI (志願兵). The main purpose of this paper is to clarify the main theme, originality, and the position of the main text in the context of Taiwanese literature in the period of Japanese colonization. In the history of Taiwanese literature, these two works raised the question of whether is imperial subject literature (皇民文學) or not. But the main focus of this paper is not on this question. From text analysis, we can find the motif, relationship between three characters, and the story of HONRYU is very similar to the story in SIGANHEI. So I think that HONRYU is in pastiche of SHIGANHEI which was published 2 years earlier. But, a gap of two years exits between the two novels, so naturally there is apparent difference in the two works. The main theme of HONRYU is 'in the Japanese Empire, and the question of how the Taiwanese think of themselves as a nation'. This theme is just on the opposite side of SIGANHEI's main theme-how Taiwanese behave as Japanese.
