Many studies have often suggested that a great number of Taiwanese learners of Japanese encountered problems in learning Japanese voiced and voiceless plosives due to the interference from their native language. However, solutions which have empirically proposed for the problem Japanese voiced and voiceless plosives learning are scant. Therefore, the aim of this article attempts to develop a multimedia-oriented web-based Japanese pronunciation instructional system as a solution for teaching Taiwanese learners Japanese voiced and voiceless plosives. The system involved three modules: learner, management and testing. The learner module comprises of two sets of learning units concerning learning strategies and explanations, while the test and management module are employed to evaluate learners’ performance and collect the testing data. Since this system is web-based, learners and teachers can interact with each other via the internet. Moreover, it provides a lot of opportunities for oral and listening training beyond regular classroom instruction. This study may be of importance in solving the long-lasting problem of Japanese voiced and voiceless plosives for Taiwanese learners. |
