A Cognitive Linguistic Analysis of Polysemic Meanings of Japanese Verb 'hashiru(to run)'

本稿根據認知意義論，對於日語動詞「はしる」的多義構造進行分析。首先，分析支持「はしる」所表示的各種意義的意義特徵，再研究這些多數的意義之間所存在的意義性相互關係。接著，闡明表示各種比喻的類似性及接近性等意義關係或者家族類似性等意義關係和衍生多義的新意義之過程是如何地有相關性。根據其結果，分析從原型所構成的基本意義擴張變化至新意義的過程之結構，解析支持「はしる」所表示的複數意義概念之多義構造。

This paper intends to analyze the semantic structure that supports polysemic characteristics shown by a Japanese verb “hashiru (to run)”. By applying cognitive linguistic theories, this paper clarifies how the semantic components called the prototypical category forms the main meaning of “hashiru”. The paper examines t o what extent semantic relationships based on the outward growth of a lexical network by extension from prototypes are directly involved with production of new polysemic meanings. Based on the facts found by t h e analysis, as a conclusion, the paper categorizes 20 polysemic meanings that the verb “hashiru” expresses, and clarifies how semantic relationships among these 20 polysemic meanings are extended from prototype s .
