In Japan, researches into the Chinese classics start from the first half of the twentieth century. Tetsurou Watsuji's “Confucius” and Yosio Takeuchi's “a Study of the Confucian Analects” raise the curtain on the history of Chinese research. In 1947, Soukichi Tsuta finished “the Confucian Analects and the Thought of Confucius”, a critical study on Confucius and the Confucian Analects. And his work gave impetus to the Confucian study of Japan. This paper is going to examine the achievements in the Confucian study in the latter half of the twentieth century, and to get a hint of the new trends of Japanese Sinology. |
