In this research project, the seismic performance of the connections for post-tensioned steel beams and concrete-filled steel columns with energy dissipating devices is investigated. Since the steel beams are post-tensioned, residual deformation will be very small after earthquake. With the addition of energy dissipating devices, deformation is concentrated on the energy dissipating devices and the beams and columns will not buckle. Therefore, the connections can be easily retrofitted after earthquakes. The feasibility of the proposed connections is verified experimentally through cyclic testing. |
