The effects of a devastating earthquake to the performance of a power system and the issues involved in the corresponding analyses have been carefully examined. The existing technique at NCREE for the seismic risk assessment of power systems has been further enhanced. A set of hazard-consistent earthquake scenarios, which used a horizontal line source model for better predicting ground motion intensities, were employed for analyzing the seismic performance of the power system in Taiwan. Possible future implementations of such technique have also been summarized. |
