Scenario simulation technologies have been played an important role in proposing seismic disaster mitigation plans and in decision-making support system. It can also be applied in catastrophic risk assessment and management which are important issues for insurance companies and high-technology industries. To achieve the multi-purpose goals, 'Taiwan Earthquake Loss Estimation System(TELES)', which has been developed by the National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering, was modified to run in batch mode to obtain various kinds of analysis results when the study region is subjected to different set of scenario earthquakes. The database established from scenario simulations may have several potential applications including early seismic loss estimation soon after strong earthquakes and seismic risk assessment that will be demonstrated in this paper. |
