Full development of student’s talent is not only an aim of gifted education, but also of regular education. The article begins with a discussion of the paradigm shift in gifted education. Then, a comparison of concepts of potential, talent, and talent development is presented. Two programs of talent development (The Schoolwide Enrichment Model & The Levels of Service) and a case of an elementary school in Taipei are analyzed. Finally, setting up talent profiles is the foundation of a talent development program. It is crucial to collect multiple data dynamically and progressively, including teacher observation and data from school administration and daily activities in campus, to distinguish students’ talent, and to understand the individual learning needs of every student. |
