從Giddens的結構化理論看教育現場的變革動能：「命」與「運」的交織

Giddens's Structuration Theory View of Educational Change Agency

長期以來對於是結構影響個人的行為，還是個人可以改變結構，此問題一直是學術研究所關心的議題，而Giddens的結構化理論（structuration theory）正可以解釋此一現象。Giddens的結構化理論認為結構限制了人的行為，但同時人也可以來改變這個結構，故提出了結構雙重性理論（duality of structure）。進言之，人有生命力及主動性，具變革動能，但另一方面，人也受到了外在結構的影響與束縛。在Giddens的結構化理論當中還提到結構化的三元素，包括符碼化（signification）、合法化（legitimation）及支配化（domination）。顯然地，校長是學校發展的關鍵性人物，更是學校重要的變革能動者，而如果校長能妥善運用結構化理論，則對於組織變革會更有助益的。首先，推動學校教育的變革要先進行教育理念闡述，但同時如能靈活運用支配化及合法化，則更能推動變革，如此三者交互並進、相輔相成，學校推動革新就較能獲得新的結構與轉型，進而影響教師的行為。綜言之，教育人員面對學校結構在進行變革時，可靈活運用結構化理論的框架，故本文擬先探討Giddens的結構化理論之內涵，其次闡明校長如何應用結構化理論進行學校變革，接著從校長運用Giddens的結構化理論進行變革的困境、結構化理論看教師與學校變革、結構化理論分析體制外的教育改革等面向加以探析，並以華人社會常談的「命」與「運」之類比闡述，以供學校革新之參考。 Anthony Giddens is one of the most excellent British sociologists. Structuration theory, formulated by Anthony Giddens, provides a good framework for understanding educational change. Therefore, this article tried to introduce structuration theory. More importantly, this article employed structuration theory to insight the process of educational change. According to the structuration theory, we found that signification, legitimation, and domination can be the useful strategies to initiate educational change. In short, the article focused on structuration theory to explore the process of educational change and provided some suggestions for educational leaders and teachers to improve school education.
