打工度假是許多年輕人尋求自我實現及拓展國際視野的重要管道。然而,觀光餐旅從業人員面對職涯環境的可預期性及侷限性時,會藉由打工度假來做為重新出發的契機。為探討觀光餐旅從業人員赴國外打工度假的認知、結果及價值意涵,以方法目的鏈(Means-End Chain, MEC)理論為基礎,針對24位曾打工度假的觀光餐旅從業人員進行一對一階梯式深度訪談。藉由方法目的鏈之屬性、結果及價值層級,逐步導引打工度假者探索離開職場前往打工度假的最終目的,並建立價值階層圖,以瞭解其打工度假的整體價值意涵。研究結果發現,語言學習、理財規劃、異國文化、職涯緩衝及長時間旅行為其主要的認知考量;難忘經歷、獨立自主、提昇自信、國際視野及自我實現等為核心的價值。研究結果除提供給觀光餐旅從業人員規劃打工度假之參考,並期能提升其整體打工度假的自我價值。
Working holiday is an important channel for many young people to seek self-realization and expand their international horizon. However, when the employees of tourism and hospitality service industry face the predictability and limitations of the career environment, it will do by working holiday as an opportunity to start afresh. Based on means-end chain (MEC) theory, we applied the laddering methodology to conduct in-depth one-on-one interviews with twenty-four working holiday workers who are the employees of tourism and hospitality service industry. Based on the interviews, we established an attribute-consequence-value chain model and explored the ultimate values of working holiday worker. The study found that language learning, financial planning, foreign culture, career buffer and long-term travel are the main cognitive considerations; unforgettable experience, independence, self-confidence, international vision and self-realization are the core values. The results of the study are not only provided to the working in the tourism and hospitality service industries employees to plan a reference for working holiday, but also hope to enhance the self-worth of their overall working holiday. |
