Shanghai, where Hayasi kyouko grew up until she was fourteen, was like her hometown. The Shanghai experience and the nuclear bomb explosions are two essential elements in the works of Hayashi kyoko.Hayasi kyouko describes her experiences of the war happened in Shanghai, China, and of the nuclear bomb explosions in Nagasaki after she returned to her country in her novels.
