In this study, I have analyzed the nature of the ”Dynamic predicate” within the main result sentences which appears in the latter part of counterfactual conditionals. It is contrary to the past, present, future facts with real false statements in conditional clauses or the main result sentences. By introducing the speaker's viewpoint of ”event achievement”, the concepts of ”mental space”, ”reference time”, as well as the meanings of ”ta”, ”teiru” or ”teita” which appear frequently in the apodoses of counterfactual conditionals, have been clearly and consistently explained. This study aims to employ the Pragmatic theory to explain the the situation of sentences by focusing on the case of adjective predicate in ”static predicate (state predicate)”, and analyzing the features of counterfactual conditionals . As a result, the adjective has no fixed ”aspect” format. However, by using the ”ta” form and functioning as a speaker's clear「 ”event/ static achievement”」marker at the reference time, and working as「”event/ static achievement”+Continuous state」marker, it is corresponding to the dynamic predicate. As a result, by introducing the speaker's viewpoint of ”event achievement”, the concept of ”mental space” and ”reference time”, as well as the phenomenon which ”ta” form appears frequently in the apodoses of counterfactual conditionals, are fully explored and analyzed. |
