This paper aims at exploring a possible teaching method intranslation, based on using conversation, movie titles, TV program titles, and people’s names as sources. As oppose to articles, these sourcesdemand more comprehensive and creative abilities to translate.A translation teacher often considers the challenge of how to makelearners understand the translation theory and practice it at the same time.Articles-translation-based curriculum consists of translation exercisesincluding comprehension, interpretation, rhetoric, comparison, andmisinterpretation analysis.A beginner tends to translate the text “word-for-word” to completethe target language. This paper therefore explores a translation method inan initial curriculum practicing through translating the sources such asconversations, to elevate the two basic translation skills, kayaku(加訳)and genyaku(減訳). |
