SHIH, Tso-Cheng was one of the most creative philosophers in Taiwan, who had long been marginalized and regarded as a non-academic philosopher by academic circles, and thus his works, especially poetry, were not valued as they should be. Though he was a real philosopher, the connotation of his poetry was widely different from those of contemporary literature in Taiwan and with individual style that was uncommon at that time. In view of the fact mentioned above, this study made an integrated explanation of his poetry by analyzing his personality and philosophy to express his nature and character as a philosopher. In the first section, this study mainly discussed his prose by analyzing how he was always in an anxious and melancholic state, and how he dealt with his emotions and desires in such a mental state. In the second section, we studied his philosophically meaningful poetry by explaining his definition of poetry writing and interpreting his poetry according to his philosophical viewpoint in order to creatively integrate and interpret his poetry and philosophy. |
