Shu Shi's official career was not smooth throughout his whole life, and he had a straitened living circumstance. Even so, he was born optimistic and made friends with people from diverse backgrounds, so that he was not defeated by the realistic adversity, and presented his bright and jocular philosophy of life in his Song Lyrics. In this paper, by adopting Liu Xie's definition of “bantering literature” in the the Literary Mind and the Carving of Dragons—Implicit Words and Allegory, the content of “bantering literature” is divided into simple recreational ridicule and lending sarcasm to jocularity for exploration into Su Shi's bantering lyrics, including three parts—Delicate pleasure in banquet of cuisine, humanistic care, and self-sarcasm— expecting to synthesize Su Shi's content of bantering lyrics from different viewpoints in order to discover his humorous and jocular personality traits from those literary works. |
