Through textile practices in relation to the subject matters of my art works, local materials of my hometown and its spatial imaginations will be explored in this research. In this paper, case study concerning contemporary textile arts and how they refer to local places and memories will be reviewed. Whereby, human resources in my hometown can be explored and their potential of being transformed into contemporary textiles can be pursued. In so doing, the deepest longing for collective memory of places and images of home can be patched. Images of ‘narratives of Tainan alleys’ are selected for my textile works in this practical study, and for delving a contemporary vision of those alleys. By associating textile materials with digitalized images, as a textile artist, I transform my perception and experience of my surroundings. Thus, the individual memory of home and the perception of outer elements may encounter. Moreover, the values of immateriality can be explored through connecting images of home with perceptual expression of textile characteristics. By the exploration of textile vocabulary in relation to characters of warm and tender, this paper will finally review the identification recalled through my textile works with local elements. |
