The prevalence of shoulder pain is about 16-21% of the general population, and supraspinatus tendinopathy is mostly affected. Supraspinatus tendinopathy affects persons who impose repeated stress on their shoulders, both in general population and in athletes who engaged in overhead activities. This disorder resulted in pain, disability, limited shoulder range of motion, poor quality of life, absence from work, or even poor sports performance in athletes. More than 50% of patients with supraspinatus tendinopathy diagnosed by a general practitioner are referred for physical therapy. Currently no consensus exists as to the management of choice for supraspinatus tendinopathy. The purpose of this article was to determine which rehabilitation interventions are effective in pain reduction for supraspinatus tendinopathy. |
