In recent years, the hotel managers consider the hospitality professional different from the previous points of view. Accordingly, this study determines the issues for hospitality human resource according to topical commentary. Then, we explore the real situation about students’ performance in the industry through the interaction between hotel managers and students. Eventually, we interpret underlying educational viewpoints and illustrate the nature of meanings through exploring students’ capabilities. The result of this study reveals that when a hospitality degree becomes only a “reference”, managers put priorities on the inner characteristics. Because different conditions may cause various career development, whether possessing the ability of self-directed learning becomes an essential element in the future workplace. To improve hospitality students’ innate learning, this study suggests that hospitality education should establish affective education from different types of learning resources, which encourage students’ positive attitude toward future. We expect that educators’ could be aware of the purpose of education as shortening the gap between industry and academia. |
