Severe Complicated Influenza Case(2007)

In 2007, 26 Influenza Severe Case were confirmed (incidence rate= 0.11 / 105) which was a bit more than the 25 confirmed cases (incidence rate = 0.11 / 105) in 2006. The characteristics of confirmed Influenza Severe Case were as follows: The sex ratio was 0.73 (0.73:1.0), with 11 male cases (42.3%) and 15 female cases (57.7%). Among them, aged 0-4 was the highest (n = 6, 23.1%), following by the aged over 60 years old (n = 5, 19.2%) and aged 10-14 (n = 7, 15.4%). Most of the cases occurred during the winter, especially in January (n = 12, 46.2%). The geographical distribution was centered in Northern Taiwan, especially in Taipei County (n = 7, 26.9%), Taoyuan County (n = 4, 15.4%) and Taipei City (n = 3, 11.5%). The incidence rate in each jurisdiction was highest in Hsinchu city (0.50 / 105), followed by Yunlin Country (0.28 / 105) and Taoyuan Country (0.21 / 105).
