In 2006, 56 Legionellosis cases were confirmed (incidence rate = 0.25 / 105) which wasabout half of the 38 confirmed cases (incidence rate = 0.17 / 105) in 2005. The characteristics of confirmed Legionellosis cases are as follows: The sex ratio was 3.0 (3.0:1.0), with 42 male cases (75%) and 14 female cases (25%). Among them, cases greater than 65 years old were highest (n = 31, 55.4%), followed byages 40-64 (n = 23, 41.1%) and 25-39 (n = 2, 3.6% ). Cases occurred year-round but were higher in June, August, September and December. The geographical distribution was highest in Taipei Metropolitan (n = 10, 17.9%), TainanCounty (n = 7, 12.5%), Taoyuan County (n = 6, 10.7%), Taipei County, Tainan City andKaoshiung City (n = 5, 8.9%, respectively). The remaining jurisdictions have less then fiveconfirmed cases. The incidence rates were highest in Tainan City (0.66 / 105), followed by Tainan County (0.63 / 105) and Hwalien County (0.58 / 105). |
