In 2006, 1,074 Dengue Fever cases were confirmed (incidence rate = 4.71 / 105) which was about two and a half times more than the 306 confirmed cases (incidence rate = 1.35 / 105) in 2005. Among them, 109 were imported cases. There were 19 Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever cases reported of 16 cases were from Kaoshiung City and 3 cases from Kaoshiung County. The characteristics of confirmed dengue cases are as follows: For the 109 imported cases, the sex ratio was 1.6 (1.6:1.0), with 67 male cases (61.5%) and 42 female cases (38.5%). Among them, cases aged 25-39 were the most (n = 43, 39.4%), followed by those aged 40-64 (n = 31, 28.4%), 15-24 (n = 15, 13.8%), 5-14 (n = 10, 9.2%), greater than 65 years old (n = 7, 6.4%), and ages 1-4 (n = 3, 2.8%). |
