In 2006, 384 Scrub Typhus cases were confirmed (incidence rate = 1.68 / 105), approximately 17% less than 462 confirmed cases (incidence rate =2.03 / 105) in 2005. The characteristics of confirmed Scrub Typhus cases are as follows: The sex ratio was 1.6 (1.6:1.0), with 238 male cases (62%) and 146 female cases (38%). Most of cases were adults greater than 20 years old. Among them, incidence was highest among individuals of age 40-64 were highest (n = 164, 42.7%), followed by those aged 25-39 (n = 79, 20.6%), and greater than 65 years old (n = 65, 16.9%). |
