Since the 1980s, due to the liberalization of the financial market andthe increasing degree of internalization, the competition within thefinancial industry in Taiwan has become more intense. While in the 1990s,the stagnation of the real estate market and the slow down of theeconomic growth has made the management of the farm and fisherycredit unions more difficult. Although the farm and fishery credit unionssupport the reform and seeking assistance from the government toovercome these difficulties, they however disagree on some of the reformpolicy and measurement. The purpose of this paper is to analyze thecurrent policy reform, focus on the recent disagreement between thecredit unions and the government, and make recommendations for thefuture reform. |
