Lacking and elder employee of tour bus’s driver are two serious problems to thetourism industry. Previous studies have not completely identified the factors thatfrom stress perception about tour bus’s driver. Hence, the purpose of this study is touncover the sources of perceived stress of tour bus’s drivers. In-depth interviewswith 25 respondents were conducted. Through content analysis, this study extractedfour dimensions of stress. They are tour bus-related, environment-related,management-related, and personal characteristics-related. The tour bus-relatedstress factor involves characteristics of tour bus, facilities on tour bus, and situationin tour bus. The environment-related stress dimension contains weather-relatedproblems, facilities of road, and roadway condition. The management-related stressdimension comprises government management, company management, and travelagency management. Finally, the personal characteristics-related stress dimensionincludes physical and psychological factors. Managerial implications are proposed for government, tour-bus companies and travel agency to decrease the sources ofoccupational stress of tour bus’s driver. |
