The purpose of this paper is to address strategies toward SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) from the point of view of three levels of prevention on school campuses. The strategies emphasize multi-level intervention (including individual, family, school, and community). The strategies act through community participation and resource integration to achieve a comprehensive intervention which can effectively prevent the spread of SARS on campus. In addition, the authors explore schoolchildren's knowledge, attitudes, and practice for preventing SARS. Besed on the findings of this investigation, the authors recommend suggestions to official organizations, school administrators, families, and the mass media to improve the effectiveness of SARS prevention and to reduce unnecessary panic. |
