Graduation theses and dissertations are important scholarly resources. Thesis not only is a document submitted in support of candidature for an academic degree presenting the author's research and findings, but also an important reference source for related scholarly research. To students and their universities, public access of their graduation works is a demonstration of their scholarly capacity, and the usage indicators can also be used to identify the impact of their works. In view of this, the National Central Library analyzed the content of the NDLTD-Taiwan system for understanding the higher education research trends in Taiwan. A study was conducted to analyze 61,675 theses and dissertations submitted to the NCL by 137 universities in Academic Year 2011 (from August 1, 2011 to July 31, 2012.) The study results were presented at the ”Cultural Heritage and Academic Leader: Taiwan is Wonderful to Have You ~~ NCL's Giving Tanks Party.” This paper is based on the presentation and reports the analyses on research trends of higher education, impact of graduation works, deposit rates, authorization rates, access rankings, and download rankings. |
