Electronic medical-record promotion is an important goal for medical informatics development. The aging of population accelerates the medical needs dramatically. Because of the complexity and diversity in the integration of the medical-infonnation systems, following the established standards is becoming necessary. In recent years, the multimedia technologies, such as the graphic interfaces, digital pens, interactive monitors, and touch panel operating systems, are progressing quickly with the input interface developed toward handwriting and drawing. In this study, we investigated the touch functions installed a touch-screen compute under the Windows 7 operating system. The purpose of this investigation is to replace the mouse with handwriting and drawing to create a user-friendly graphic input environment for medical records. We also apply the standard format of the Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) developed by the Health Level Seven (HL7) organization to link the drawn graphic files and present them in the multimedia medical record forms. The system will effectively and efficiently solve difficulties in the graphic data input for a physician order and improve the diverse functions of hospital information system. |
