The purpose of this study was to explore the factors related to registered nurses’ intention to recommend general population adopt human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination in Hsinchu city . A cross sectional study was designed with a total of 362 participants from four hospitals and three health centers in Hsinchu city by purposed sampling. A selfadministrated questionnaire was used to collect the nurses’ vaccine knowledge, the perceived barriers to HPV vaccination, the perceived benefits of HPV vaccination, and the self efficacy of vaccine related health education to general population. Multiple regression analysis was used to analyze associations between intention of recommend HPV vaccination and associated factors. A total of 362 participants was recruited. The factors related to nurses’ intention to recommend general population adopt HPV vaccination were HPV vaccine knowledge, the perceived barrier to HPV vaccination, and the perceived benefits of HPV vaccination. It revealed that the higher mean score of knowledge, and more perceived benefit of HPV vaccination, the higher intention the participants had to recommend general population adopt HPV vaccination. The more perceived barriers to HPV vaccination, the lower intention to recommend general population adopt HPV vaccination. The results of the study will strengthen the understanding of the nurses’ HPV vaccine knowledge and will confirm the factors related to registered nurses’ intention to recommend general population adopt HPV vaccination. Finally, the implications of these findings for future research and practice are discussed. |
