In the West, medcial firms are always the most active promoters of stronger Intellectual Property protections, and are also active litigants. But in China, the case is quite different, either in the importance of Intellectual Property for firms, or in firms' protection behaviors. The explaination for this has to do with the specific industrial structure of Chinese medical industry, as well as the policy background. When Intellectual Property policies are made, the exact industrial environment where it will take effect should not be neglected; if we want to increase the society's awareness of Intellectual Property Protections, we also have to consider these factors and make related adjustments. |
