Isoprene is an important material applied in the rubber industry, which have been extensively studied in application, but safety research was scarce for this substance. In 2011 Kaohsiung, a rubber factory induced fire accidents, which caused relevant industries concerned about the safety information of isoprene. This study focuses on the hazardous properties of isoprene by thermal analysis that contains thermal polymerization of isoprene and exothermic characteristics of isoprene mixed incompatible substances by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Isoprene has flammability and instability hazards, if isoprene exposed to air and then contact with fire that will induce fire and explosion. Thermal analysis was carried out for isoprene and mixed with incompatible substances. Results by this study can provide to engineers for avoiding accident. |
