This study is to analyze the factors that affect the outpatient visits in Mennonite Christian Hospital. These factors includes the number of medical doctors, unemployment rate, the population in Hualien, the new measures taken by Bureau of National Health Insurance, the opening of new OPD building and seasonal change. The multiple regression models are used as an analytical technique. The number of medical doctors affects the outpatient visits significantly and positively. The population in Hualien decreases slowly because of emigration and this situation doesn’t significantly affect the outpatient visits. The high unemployment rate significantly increases the outpatient visits. The opening of the new OPD building was highly anticipated to attract more patients for medical care but the effect is not positive. The new measures taken by Bureau National Health Insurance in August 1999 increased the copayment for medical fee. While it didn’t significantly affect the outpatient visits. The outpatient visits in winter are less then spring, summer and autumn. The multiple regression models are used in many fields, such as the analysis in stock price variation and the research in marketing. This evidence-based study uses the multiple regression models to analyze important factors affecting the outpatient visits and hopes to make some contribuations to the field of health-care management. |
