After the SARS epidemic and patient safety affairs occurred in 2002, using patient-oriented technology to prevent or avoid damages such as errors, bias, and to patients has become the most important part of medical care process next to professional treatment in Taiwan healthcare industry. Though the main purpose of longterm care institutes is accommodating instead of medical caring the residents, the globalized trend of patient safety would definitely influence the care quality of long-term care institutes in the near future. RFID has been listed as one of the most important ten technologies in the world. It has been applied in many industries, even the healthcare industry. This study used the RFID technology to locate and alarm patient fall for medical staffs to provide appropriate treatment at the right time to minimize the damage and prolong resident's life in the long-term care centers. In addition, the long-term care center can gain competitive advantages and business efficiency with lower caring cost by using RFID. |
