This research paper documents how and the results of the implementation of two modern logistics concepts: JIT and Cross Docking to this medical center applying four-step methodology of a logistics innovation model. The empirical study had shown that logistics innovation could create tangible benefits to this health care institution with inventory reduction, warehouse space saving, and labor downsizing. The seven months results had shown the reduction of inventory dollars from 97,610 NTD to 0 NTD, 100% savings on warehouse space, 28% savings in purchasing cost, and 99% savings on labor cost. The second category was medical supplies and 23 items were selected for this study. A JIT delivery concept was implemented since March of 2006. The three months results had shown the reduction of inventory dollars from 328,076 NTD to 23,007 NTD, , inventory days reduction from 15 to 1-2, and 57% warehouse space savings. |
