The present study investigated a new instructional strategy involving creative thinking integrated with creativity contents to improve students' success rates in patent application. On the basis of creative thinking instruction, we established comprehensive instructional processes, during which activities involving multiple instructional strategies were performed to evaluate student learning as well as observe and record their classroom performance and feedback. The results revealed that example demonstration increased basic knowledge of patents. Brainstorming inspired students to think and generate an increasing number of ideas. Subsequently, the students' ideas and conceptions were converged through discussion to determine worthwhile ideas for patent writing instructions. Eventually, the patent application success rates of the students were successfully increased. In summary, this study provided a novel application method for conceiving innovative patent ideas that is substantially beneficial for offering patent-related knowledge or project instruction to students. The present study assisted the students to successfully apply for more than 20 new patents in Taiwan. |
