The main purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between parenting style of parents and optimism of their children studying at the university of science and technology. For the purpose of this survey study, 333 students at the university of science and technology in Northern Taiwan were collected. The collected data were analyzed through statistics methods of frequency, one-way ANOVA, Chi-square test, Pearson correlation and multiple regression. The conclusions of this study were as follows: There were no significantly difference among background variations. There was a significant correlation between parenting style of parents and optimism of their children studying. The parenting style of parents was an effective predictor of optimism of their children studying. According to the result of this study, some suggestions were made for parents, the educational organizations and future studies.
