In the era of globalization, English is an international language and an important communication tool. Having an adequate English ability is an essential skill for citizens in the global village. Educators at technology universities have found that many students possess insufficient English abilities and a lack of confidence in English learning. However, an overview of the literature found that few studies focus on students at technology universities. Therefore, to construct a scale to investigate technology university English teachers’ teaching styles is necessary. The scale in this study was developed by the following procedures. First, the researchers developed the scale based on the literature and previous scales, such as Conti’s (1983, 1985). Then experts in this field helped to review the contents. After the pilot studies, the reliability and validity were analyzed. As a result, “The Scale of Technology University English Teachers’ Teaching Style” was developed and consists of 21 items in four categories. This scale, which was found to have good reliability and validity, will be a useful tool for future studies to enhance teaching and studying efficacy. |
