In recent years, the development of sports science has entered into the molecular biology area. Angiotensin converting enzyme gene (ACE) is considered to be related to cardiovascular endurance performance. Purpose: The study investigated the difference of ACE gene polymorphism in elite taekwondo athletes and control group. Methods: 40 elite athletes (20males and 20females) were designed as an experiment team and another 183 ordinary people (101 males and 82 females, respectively) for control group. The genotype of ACE was determined by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method. Results: Our result showed that II/ID/DD polymorphism frequency of male elite athlete are 45%/35%/20%, female are 50%/40%/10%; the control group male are 35.6%/47.5%/16.9%, female are 36.6%/46.3%/17.1%. There is an obvious difference (p<.05) in the elite athletes and control group. Conclusion: The ACE polymorphism is related to the performance of elite athletes. We may apply the test of ACE polymorphism in selecting the athletes and strategy application as a reference." |
