This is a heterological inquiry. In this land, Taiwan, psychoanalysis is still in its state of prehistory. But when we try to approach psychoanalysis, there is a now-paradigmatic prehistorical case, which is the famous “Schreber case.” Although Freud used his analysis to represent this case, Schreber himself was never Freud’s analysand. We may say Schreber is a prehistorical speaker who represents a whole territory of analysand’s voice. In these few notes, I present my attempted treading into Schreber’s land. It was the mystical delusion that resembled our tradition of creating a religious sect. I used a kind of paranoid rhetoric to call this an “act of creality.” I actually began this heterological inquiry as a self-reflection on how I can inquire into an Other and itsa calling to our intellectual community. It is my hope that this inquiry will open up and turn over our prehistory into a real history of analysis. |
