This case report described the experience of caring a 35-year-old primipara and assisting her with learning of breast-feeding after the caesarean section. The mother faced a lot of difficulties while breastfeeding because of the caesarean section due to the malposition. From December 25, 2007 to December 30, 2007, according to the data analyzed by the assessment tool of Gordon 11 functional health patterns, the problems of the hospitalized case were identified as: “pain”, “ineffective breastfeeding”, “tired” and “anxiety”. During the period of caring, the author not only met her basic physiological needs, but also provided the knowledge of nursing and breast-feeding to increase the patient’s interest in breast-feeding. As a result, the patient received a great deal of sense of achievement. Her effort was also recognized by her family members. Through this nursing experience, the author realized the importance of providing proper care in order to achieve the completeness of post partum maternal care. |
