Cryoglobulinemia occurs when patients suffered from the infection or systemic disease. The disease not only altered physiological function, but also induced anxiety. We cared a young man during the period between May 25 and June 3, 2007. We applied Gordon’s functional health assessment index to evaluate the patient. Health problems identified included risk for infection by invasive catheter retention, fluid volume excess by cryoglobulinemia induced glomerular nephritis, and anxiety by intensive mental stress. During the nursing process of two weeks, we established trusting therapeutic relationship with the patient and his family. They were able to understand the caring intervention of the rare disease gradually through discussion and training. Finally, the patient relieved the anxiety and took an aggressive attitude to fight against the disease. We hope to share the caring experience with readers. |
