In recent years, more HIV-Infected people are heterosexuals that can predict more HIV-Infected infants in Taiwan. Nursing care for AIDS cases is a big challenge for pediatric nurses. This case study applied Watson’s theory in caring for a primary caregiver of an HIV-Infected child. Behavior observation and listening were used to collect and analyze data. There major problems identified included: fear, hopelessness, knowledge deficit. Through the author’s efforts of adequate strategies, the caregiver can get confidence to face the problems. Pediatric nursing is focus on family care, especially for AIDS family. This experience provided nursing staff with a guide to promote quality of nursing care for AIDS family in the future. |
