This case study reported the nursing experience for a patient with deep neck infection during postoperative period. The duration of nursing care by author was between August 15 and August 30, 2006. The Roy’s adaptation theory was used to assess nursing problem through direct care, observation, writing conversation, and systemic interview. The nursing problems included pain, ineffective airway clearance, impaired tissue integrity, and disturbance body image. Nursing intervention programs included pain management, keeping airway flowing freely, wound care, and encouraging the patient face her body by discussion with wardmates. Nursing instruction was also provided to facilitate her effective physical and psychological adaptation. This experience provided nursing staff with a reference for caring similar patients in the future. |
