This study examines the moderating effects of professional commitment on the relationships among turnover intention and four factors of job satisfaction (job satisfaction with information, closure, freedom, pay and security). Proportionate stratified random sampling technique was applied to sample 253 full-time nurses. Questionnaires were used as data collection tools. The effective sample comprised of 214 nurses working for a medical center in northern Taiwan. All participants were female and aged below 50 years old. Moreover, 31.3% of the sample was married. This study had four main findings: (1) job satisfaction with information regarding performance was correlated with turnover intention among high-commitment nurses but not low-commitment nurses, (2) job satisfaction with closure (the ability to complete tasks) was not correlated with turnover intention, (3) job satisfaction with freedom was correlated with turnover intention, and (4) job satisfaction with salary and benefits was correlated with turnover intention for low-commitment nurses but not high-commitment nurses. |
