Most of the nursing literatures focused on the illness or disease prevention and related nursing care. Few scholars have ever discussed health promotion behavior following the women underwent cosmetic breast augmentation surgery. The purpose of this study was to examine women’s adopting health-related behavior following at least three months of augmentation surgery. The cross-sectional descriptive study applied the Adult Health Promotion Scale to collect data. According to the total of 34 participants, the findings discovered 10 behaviors adopted by these women with higher frequency, such as full of confidence optimistically to the life, to grow up and change facing the positive direction, to maintain interpersonal relationship and so on. There are 9 behaviors with lower frequency, including the inspection of cholesterol, doing regular exercise and participating in exercise program. Overall, the dimension of interpersonal relationship reached the highest scores, but exercise behavior score was the lowest. In addition, those who usually have practicing breast self-inspection have higher score of behaviors in “the health-responsibility” and “the stress-management” than those do not check group. Moreover, those with the complications after the surgery have higher scores on the interpersonal relationship than their counterpart group. The findings will be helpful to the nursing staff in the cosmetic center, to understand these women’s lifestyle after they leave the hospital. This result will be used as the basic nursing knowledge of promoting the nursing care quality in cosmetic surgery. |
