某醫學中心胃腸肝膽科病房護理人員針扎發生率改善專案

A Project for Needlesticks Prevention in the Gastroenterology Ward of a Medical Center

針扎是國內醫療人員最嚴重的職業傷害，而護理人員更是最容易被針扎的對象。經調查某醫學中心胃腸肝膽科病房護理人員於民國90年1月至93年6月間，發現年針扎發生率由0.77％提高至1.63％，針扎率有明顯增加趨勢，藉現況調查得知：病房護理人員未接受本院在職教育訓練者高達55％，未依正確規範操作尖銳物品高達40.2％，確實容易造成被針扎之嚴重危險性，故成立專案小組。本專案旨在降低某醫學中心胃腸肝膽科病房護理人員針扎發生率逐年增加之問題，經由全面宣導並研發尖銳物品處理使用改善方案及舉辦在職教育，此期間，未有護理人員發生針扎事件，其針扎發生率為0％，並明顯降低不正確操作尖銳物品之動作由40.2％降至7.6％，由此顯示本專案介入措施確實發揮功能，達到降低病房針扎發生率之問題。

Needlestick injuries are the most severe occupational hazards among health care workers and nurses are usually at the highest risk. Between January 2001 and June 2004, the incidence of needlesticks in the Gastroenterology ward of a medical center had increased from 0.77% to 1.63%. About 55% of the needlestick victims had not received working educational training, and 40.2% had not followed the procedure of handling sharp devices. Therefore, a program was set up to control this problem. After intensive educational training program on appropriate use of protective devices to avoid sharp injuries, there has been no needlestick event occurring during this period. In addition, this program reduced the incidence of improper handling of sharp devices from 40.2% to 7.6%. We concluded that the intervention program could effectively reduce the incidence of needlestick injuries in this ward.
