This paper reported the nursing experience of a palatal cancer patient, who had wound infection complicated with chronic osteomylitis during postoperative period. The first and second level assessments in Roy’s theory were used to assess and identify nursing problems and set goals and care plans. There were three major problems, including acute pain, impaired tissue integrity, and disturbance in body image. During the care period, primary nurses applied non-pharmacological management to reduce pain, control wound infection, and enhance patient’s positive behavior and attitude to manage the different stimulus from the progress of disease and promote her adaptation reaction. This report provides nurses with a reference in caring similar patients in the future. |
