This paper reported the postoperative nursing experience of an patient receiving esophageal reconstruction. The Orem's theory was used to identify nursing problems and set goals for caring plan. There were three major nursing problems, including pain, nutrition alteration: less than body requirements, and high risk for infection. Supportive and education programs, partial and complete compensation were provided to improve the patient's self-care ability. This experience provided nursing staffs with a reference for caring similar patients in the future. |
