Acupressure has been widely used in clinical intervention in Europe and the United States to relieve pain and promote health. Although the effects of acupressure in women health have been well documented in western societies, its scientific application and evaluation is still in the preliminary stage. In ancient Chinese medicine, Zusanli, Hegu and Combination of acupoints were employed to relieve dysmenorrhea, physiological discomforts, and some gynecological problems. Acupressure has been widely accepted by patients and it could be operated safely by nurses. To enhance the women's quality of life, acupressure can be integrated into clinical practice and health education. It can also be used as a self-care method for women health. |
