The term “productive dialogue” is employed by former researchers referring to a person exchange his/her insights into a work related problems with related others. In this study, we propose that a person’s involvement in productive dialogues with colleagues could enhance one’s creativity performance in a work team, which is based on arguments from the dialogical theory of new knowledge creation and the theory of creativity. In addition, literatures from the field of social psychology and cognitive psychology also suggest that a person’s need for cognition could enhance the relationship of one’s productive dialogue and his/her creativity performance in a work team. Data of survey was collected from electronic manufacturers in Taiwan, which showed that productive dialogue was positively related to creativity performance and that need for cognition positively moderated the relationship between productive dialogue and creativity. Significance and limitations of this study were discussed at the end of this study. |
