Background: Jumping is a fundamental locomotor movement, which can be subdivided into vertical jump, standing long jump, and hopping. Vertical jump and standing long jump are both belong to two-foot jumping patterns, which are more appropriate assessing jumping development. From motor development perspective, two approaches have been used to assess fundamental movement process, which include of total body configuration and component approaches. Although total body configuration approach was available, but there was still lack of component approach for the assessment of vertical jump. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to construct the component assessment checklist in terms of vertical jump performance. Methods: Because of many similar movement patterns between vertical jump and standing long jump, we adjusted the developmental levels of vertical jump through the Delphi method. It was selected and referred to the key patterns of total body configuration of vertical jump and standing long jump. Through the discussion between the panel of experts, it was resulted in 3 phases (preparation and takeoff phase, flight phase, and landing phase) and 3 components (trunk, hand, and foot). Results: After 3 rounds of discussion and integration, the agreements of the experts' decision have reached over 85% above in each 9 assessable items. |
